No dia da consciência negra naturalmente a sugestão sonora acompanharia esta temática que, infelizmente, precisa ser lembrada. É estarrecedor saber que ainda é preciso lembrar que existe opressão (e muita) no mundo e que é preciso combater este tipo de pensamento e de manifestação.
O disco é Sex Machine, do “cara” James Brown. James Brown é considerado o criador e principal difusor do funk, que foi um gênero mais que importante pra cultura negra norte-americana e, consequentemente, para os países que importam a cultura proveniente deste país (estávamos em plena guerra fria, o que quer dizer que metade do mundo importava a cultura norte-americana). No disco temos clássicos como Sex Machine (quem nunca ouviu o Get Up!), Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose, entre outros, porém ele figura neste espaço por conta da música Say It Loud I’m Black And I’m Proud.
James Brown teve uma ligação estreita com o movimento Black Power, que, entre outras bandeiras, levantava o orgulho que os negros deveriam ter de sua cultura. Acredito que o primeiro passo para que um povo consiga combater a opressão que sofre é melhorar a auto-estima e acreditar no seu valor. E isto foi algo realizado com maestria por James Brown.
